Used, for example, when we are counting the strikes we are practicing in a drill.

Ichi – one

Ni – two

San – three

Shi – four

Go – five

Roku – six

Shichi – seven

Hachi – eight

Ku – nine

Ju – ten

COUNTING IN JAPANESE (ORDINAL)
Used, for example, when the instructor calls which engi (1-8) to do next.
It could also be used by the main shinpan (judge) of a shiai match to announces which point the two competitors are sparring for next.

Ipponme – first

Nihonme – second

Sanbonme – third

Yonhonme – fourth

Gohonme – fifth

Ropponme – sixth
